Manchester Food & Drink Festival and The Whisky Lounge present

THE MANCHESTER WHISKY FESTIVAL 2010

***THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT!***

After the resounding success of last year’s inaugural event, it would be rude not to do it all over again!

If you were at the MOSI last year you will have a good idea of what it is all about, but if you were not then prepare to be delighted…

Once again we open the gates to a world of liquid heaven as the great and the good of the distilling world come together under one roof. This time we are in the fantastic Castlefield Rooms overlooking the canal with great access for the public. Our friends at The Whisky Lounge have excelled themselves this year with an even stronger line-up of exhibitors, covering whiskies from all over the world – Scotland, Ireland, England, Japan, USA and India are all represented. From 11am until 4pm you will have the opportunity to taste some incredible whiskies whilst chatting with the people who make them and sell them.

The £18 ticket price covers your entrance, a free tasting glass (worth £4), a small bottle of water and all of your samples. There is no extra to pay for tasting samples but there will also be a retail shop within, where you will be able to purchase most of the whiskies that you sample.

With around 150 whiskies on tasting we are confident that you will find one or two that you like!

There will also be food available to buy on site.

Please note that ticket numbers are limited. If the event sells out, there will be no tickets held back to purchase on the door.

The Balvenie – with Dr. Andrew Forrester, Brand Ambassador

The Balvenie is an iconic Speyside distillery that still has its own floor maltings and cooperage. Andy is a really knowledgeable and insightful guy and will be delving deep into the processes that make Balvenie the whisky it is and treating you to some great drams.

1.00pm - 2.15pm, £7.50

Compass Box – with Gregg Glass, Assistant Whiskymaker

A whisky company with a difference, Compass Box owns no distilleries. Instead they choose to buy casks from selected distilleries and blend them into their own extremely popular and highly-regarded concoctions. Chris will guide you through some of these whiskies whilst explaining what makes them tick.

2.30pm - 3.45pm, £15.00 - THIS IS NOW SOLD OUT!

Best of the Fest – with Eddie Ludlow of The Whisky Lounge and guests

A unique opportunity to be part of a very special tasting event. Eddie introduces a panel of experts who will each be bringing with them a special bottle from their collections that is NOT available for tasting during the main event. This will include some rare and vintage whiskies for which you might need a second mortgage to taste otherwise!
